A family-friendly company policy in small and medium-sized enterprises is becoming increasingly important. This was the basic opinion of a panel discussion in Waldershof in the district of Tirschenreuth.
The event was held by Schraml, a company with 45 employees, most of which are men. Here, they can react flexibly if the father sometimes has to go home early, says Junior Manager Alexander Schraml. Furthermore there are subsidies for nursery.
This type of action should set a precedent, says District Administrator Wolfgang Lippert, who is also the patron of the local federation for family. In times of demographic change and a shortage of skilled employees, a family-friendly company policy is now an important deciding factor, even in smaller companies.
However, at the event it was clear that the topic of family-friendliness must be conveyed even more. There are no patent solutions yet, for example for the trades, said Wolfgang Schmid from the District Craft Trades Association.
